Some artworks begin with a clear idea. Others reveal themselves over time.

Creation emerged through an intuitive process of layering, observation and transformation, where forms gradually appeared rather than being planned from the outset. Working without a fixed image in mind, I allowed the painting to evolve through curiosity and discovery, responding to what slowly emerged on the canvas. The result is a work that shifts between recognisable and imagined forms, remaining open to interpretation rather than offering a single narrative.

The title Creation reflects more than the making of the artwork itself. It also speaks to the way meaning is created between the artwork and the viewer. Every person brings their own experiences, memories and imagination, discovering something different within the work. That openness to interpretation is central to my practice.

In 2026, Creation was exhibited in London as part of The Other Art Fair exhibition. One of the most rewarding aspects of the show was watching visitors engage with the painting. Some paused briefly before moving on, while others returned for a second look or stood together discussing what they could see. No two conversations were the same, reinforcing the idea that contemporary art is experienced differently by every individual.

Those moments reminded me that an artwork continues to evolve long after it leaves the studio. Once exhibited, it begins a new journey through the people who spend time with it, question it and form their own connections.

Today, Creation remains an important work within my practice, representing an ongoing exploration of perception, transformation and symbolic emergence. It is the first work featured in our CX2Art Exhibition Stories series, celebrating the lives of artworks beyond the studio and the conversations they inspire.

The original artwork is available through CX2Art.
