Artist Profile
Michaela Gogova
Michaela Gogova’s practice explores dreams, memory, and emotional geometry through intuitive abstraction, layered compositions, gestural brushwork, and bold colour.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Michaela’s practice is rooted in an exploration of ideas, dreams, personal experiences, and modes of expression. Her inquisitive nature drives a process in which paintings unfold through layered compositions, gestural brushstrokes, and bold colour choices. She is particularly drawn to geometric forms — squares, rectangles, and sharp edges — questioning their presence within both her work and her inner landscape.
Michaela paints intuitively and without prescribed rules. Drawing on instinct and emotional response, her works often begin with an idea, dream, or visual memory before evolving through what she describes as a “conversation with canvas.”
A self-taught artist who briefly trained at Central Saint Martins, Michaela was born in Slovakia and is now based in London, where she works from her studio at Wimbledon Art Studios.
